This series of prints navigates and contrasts the spiraling and circular patterns of American housing developments.  The line drawings are tracings and recombinations of actual built housing landscapes derived from aerial mapping.  The drawings are layered directly on top of stencil-printed monotype landscapes to make observations and discoveries about their relationships, and to showcase the similar decorative, functional and disposable properties they have in common. The prints playfully exploit the long histories that both have of being once created with a higher quality, function and aesthetic than that of their current iterations.  The large prints in this series are created through built layers of monotype and relief with cut + manipulated paper doilies that are used as both positive and negative stencils. This method results in lush fields of playful patterns that are partnered with ink line drawings–each is a unique original.
